WalletHub just released the rating of “most fun states to visit” – and Florida claimed spot #2.
While everyone defines “fun” differently, Florida definitely offers plenty of options for fun seekers of all kinds.
Beaches. Visitors flock to Florida to enjoy the sunshine. But as Floridians, we also find the beach a source of fun and relaxation. Every part of the state boasts beautiful beaches that are warm for most of the year, and South Florida allows you to enjoy the beach year round. If hours of sunbathing and floating in the warm ocean don’t entice you, kayaking, paddle boarding, and beach volleyball certainly will.

Nature. Due to hot weather and flat terrain Florida is not a hiker’s paradise California is. However, tropical plants and wild animals set the state apart. Beautiful parks where you can catch a glimpse of an alligator, a snake, or a giant turtle, are a must for adventure seekers; plentiful botanical gardens will dazzle a plant lover.

Water activities. Florida is surrounded by water, which makes it an ideal wet playground for all ages. Fishing is a common pastime for Floridians young and old. Taking a boat ride is an amazing way to spend a summer day. And when you’ve had enough of sunbathing on the beach, rent a snorkeling gear and enjoy the underwater world.

Restaurants and nightlife. Heavily outshined by Manhattan and San Francisco just a few years ago, Florida food scene is catching up fast. Miami boasts several Michelin star restaurants and other exceptional dining establishments. Miami Spice event (August – September) attracts people from all over the state. Bars and music venues make Miami a magnet for young people, many of whom now prefer Brickell over Manhattan.
Music / theater. If you want to catch a Broadway show, you can come to New York – or Fort Lauderdale. Theater district hosts traveling Broadway shows every year from November to May. Hard Rock Live showcases famous musicians, comedians, and life performances. Kravitz Center in Palm Beach has shows for all tastes.
Architecture / history. If going back in time fascinates you, consider a trip to Saint Augustine. Known as “the oldest town in America,” this charming place will quickly become your favorite. Take a guided tour, or simply walk the streets – history is everywhere.

For architectural marvels in South Florida, Breakers in Palm Beach, or Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables are fascinating – and they both host mouthwatering Sunday brunch. Flagler Museum, Villa Vizcaya, and John Deering Estate are excellent way to get away from the sun and take a walk back in time.
Every year, more and more people are choosing Florida as their vacation destination – and for good reason. Florida offers much more than theme parks – from nature to history to art, the state’s appeal is unbeatable.
